One of the goals of our “learning engineering” initiatives is to identify digital learning platforms that can (1) accelerate progress in the science of learning; (2) create an infrastructure for continuous improvement in K-12 learning by combining rapid-cycle evaluation, feedback loops, and machine learning; and (3) attract more computer scientists to the field of learning engineering. This grant will support an early evaluation of Polyup Web-based platform.
CTA is interested in whether Polyup could be used to improve student performance in math, by having teachers, researchers and students develop, test, and evaluate Polyup interactive modules. The emphasis would be on 4th made math concepts that (1) are critical for future learning progression; and (2) that a disproportionate number of students struggle with.
